When you go looking for a new refrigerator, you’ll find a lot of different things. There are loads of different features, different brands, different colors. You can have the freezer at the top, at the bottom or on the side.
One of the biggest decisions to make is whether you want your refrigerator to be free standing or to be built into your counter. There are advantages and disadvantages to either option.
If you get a refrigerator that’s built into your counter, it will be smaller of course. Since it will only be as tall as the counter, there will be a lot less storage space. On the plus side, it will look pretty sharp as part of the counter and it will take up a lot less room in your kitchen. If you don’t have a lot of kitchen space to work with and there are only one or two people in the household, then a small fridge might be the way to go.
A full-sized fridge gives you the advantage of having more storage space. Unfortunately, it also takes up a lot more floor space. Since it’s a bigger unit, it will also most likely use more energy. This could make a big difference in your electric bill in the long run.
If you’re interested in features like external controls or in-door water and ice, then the bigger refrigerator might be the way to go for you. The larger models usually have a lot more features including racks for soda cans and even wine bottles, extra crisper drawers, etc.
It’s always a good idea to consider all the options when looking for a new fridge. You’re probably going to have it for a long time.
